Pre & Post Chemotherapy: strengthening the immune system Code : 624
24th – 27th June 2007 (4 days 3 nights)

The immune system is the body’s own defence mechanism against attack from illness and disease.  Many people diagnosed with cancer feel a conflict about accepting treatments that not only attack the cancer but also undermine their immune system.  Intuitively they feel a fully functioning immune system is central to their battle with cancer and to the restoration of their overall health.

People with weakened immune systems are more susceptible to infection.  They catch colds and flu more easily, and take longer to recover.  A properly functioning immune system will not only stay alert to identify and destroy substances that contain antigens but will refrain from attacking the “normal” antigens.

Each participant will be guided in their selection of food during meal times, optimising nutrition for their specific condition and needs.  This course would also be beneficial to the carers and supporters of those who have, or are recovering from cancer.

ETERNAL PRESENT

Most people are terrified of real, genuine commitment.  We are unwilling to be fully committed to life now, because we are still waiting.  The ego is always waiting for a better deal.  But in a liberated relationship to life, we stop playing that waiting game, because we realize that this is it.  This is everything, right now.  And we recognize that if we are not committed now, our relationship to life is inherently going to be superficial.  The only reason so few of us live extraordinary lives is that we are not really committed.  The minute we stop waiting for a better deal, and we are willing to be truly committed now, our lives become extraordinary.  The future disappears in the eternal present, because when we are that committed to this particular moment, which is every moment, we know that this is the best deal that there could ever be.
